Thrummed Mittens, drummed Mittens, stuffed mittens. Whatever you call them, they can't be beat for warmth and coziness!
When making thrummed mittens, the knitter inserts tufts of unspun wool (roving) at selected points. This makes a little "V" on the outside of the mitten. On the inside it makes a warm thick layer to line the mitten. Over time this layer of roving felts and makes the mitten more resistant to both wind and water.
I have been on a thrumming kick this fall and you can find several pairs on my etsy site www.etsy.com/shop/mandasmittens
